Give your business a sustainable approach

This photo, taken in the OFCO office during a topic discussion in August 2023, captures the team's focus and enthusiasm, highlighting the significance of the agenda. The discussion was led by Rommel Ballena, who served as QC Manager at OFCO for 15 years from 2009 to 2024. We keep this photo as a tribute to him.

At OFCO, our commitment to sustainable business practices is at the heart of everything we do.

We understand the crucial role that transparency and efficiency play in fostering sustainable partnerships in Vietnam’s seafood industry. Our mission is to empower our clients to navigate the complexities of sourcing with confidence, ensuring that every transaction aligns with their values and meets their quality standards.

By leveraging our expertise and conducting thorough inspections on every consignment, we mitigate the risks associated with unreliable suppliers and unethical practices. This approach not only protects our clients but also promotes ethical business practices within the industry.

EFFICIENCY OF PREVENTIVE ACTIONS

Our long-term vision and commitment to sustainable business have yielded substantial results. Fifteen years ago, we encountered a significant quality issue in over 40% for the consignments inspected. Today, thanks to our rigorous inspection processes and preventive measures, that figure has been reduced to a mere 1.5%, fostering better relationships between our clients and their suppliers.

Our preventive actions and rigorous inspections have set a high standard in the industry:  Suppliers now prefer to ensure adequate quality or even cancel an order rather than face an OFCO inspection with suspected inadequate quality.

Pre shipment inspection

This photo, taken in May 2023, shows three OFCO Quality Control (QC) team arriving at a cold store with their equipment to oversee the unloading of scallop raw material shipped to Vietnam for reprocessing. OFCO is in charge of overseeing the entire flowchart, from the unloading of the raw material to the processing and export of the final products.

Cold storage sampling

This photo, taken in January 2024, captures two OFCO Quality Control (QC) inspectors in discussion with the cold storage staff to prepare for sampling. At OFCO, we recognize that sampling is the most critical part of any inspection, and we place the utmost emphasis on this crucial step. Before beginning the sampling process, our team ensures they have full access to the entire production and verifies that the quantity is adequate. While this step may appear straightforward on paper, it demands significant expertise and know-how to execute correctly in Vietnam. During this phase, the team also checks that the storage conditions meet compliance standards.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

At OFCO, we are committed to shaping a sustainable future for the seafood industry in Vietnam. Through our services, we strive to instill confidence in our clients and advocate for ethical and sustainable practices within the industry.

We are more than just an inspection and consulting company; we are your trusted partner in sustainable business.

RELIABLE SERVICES

With years of experience in Vietnam, we have earned a reputation for being reliable and incorruptible.

Processors recognize our meticulousness during our sampling process and inspections. After conducting a significant number of inspections - surpassing the symbolic number of 10,000 inspections in 2023  - we have developed a system capable of responding to all situations and preventing most interference attempts.

We are continuously enhancing and fortifying our systems and methodologies.

Sample Inspection

This photo, taken in May 2020, shows OFCO Quality Control team checking pre-cooked skipjack tuna loin samples at the OFCO office. This check occurs before the processor starts production, and the processor will receive authorization from the customer to begin production only after the customer is satisfied with the results of OFCO's checking. This simple procedure helps reduce misunderstandings between processors and buyers. All ambiguities are removed, and the responsibility is now on the supplier to ensure the production matches the approved sample.

Pre-shipment inspection

In this photo, taken in January 2024, two OFCO Quality Control (QC) inspectors are conducting a pre-shipment inspection of Pangasius fillets at a processor’s facility. During this specific step, the QCs carefully examine each defrosted fillet to assess the level of treatment and note any observed defects. While this step is tailored to the species and items inspected, other steps in the inspection process are more standardized across different species and items.

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY

OFCO has developed a robust system to navigate the turbulent waters of Vietnam. We operate with complete transparency with our clients, and to secure our process, we adopt a dual approach at each step. Every step is documented for our customers, making forgery nearly impossible.

We stand by our conclusions, and should a problem arise, we are committed to resolving it with due diligence. We understand that a zero-risk policy does not exist, and Vietnam is no exception. OFCO is dedicated to maintaining fairness between our clients and their suppliers and remaining objective on the responsibilities of each party involved - our clients, their suppliers, and OFCO.

TRUST & RELIABILITY

Through our unwavering commitment to integrity and professionalism, OFCO cultivates trust-based relationships between clients and suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships built on mutual respect and reliability.

Our impartial and unbiased inspections instill confidence in the integrity of products and transactions, reinforcing trust throughout the supply chain ecosystem.
