SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is not just a word for OFCO, this is a philosophy leading us in right direction for every decision we take and strategy we make.

Sustainable business

When OFCO began, we encountered significant quality issues in over 40% of inspected containers. However, over the past eight years, we’ve reduced this to approximately 1.5% fostering better relationships between our clients and their suppliers.

Our preventive actions and rigorous inspections have set a high standard in the industry:  Suppliers now prefer to ensure adequate quality or even cancel an order rather than face an OFCO inspection with suspected inadequate quality.

Sustainable farming

Vietnam is full of "not known enough" resources. Discover how fishing and farming in Vietnam can be sustainable with minimal to no impact on the environment.

OFCO is here to guide your transition towards a greener business.

Study on Pangasius foot Print

Climate change poses significant challenges to our planet. However, aquaculture can be part of the solution.

Aquaculture has lower greenhouse gas (GHGs)* emissions compared to land-based food production. This makes it a more environmentally friendly option for food production as we strive to mitigate the impacts of climate change

Population growth

With the swift rise in global population, the demand for animal proteins is escalating at an even more rapid rate.

Traditional land farming methods alone are insufficient to cater to this burgeoning demand. Aquaculture, particularly the farming of environmentally friendly species such as catfish as per the FAO, is likely to contribute significantly to meeting this demand.

" In the next 50 years we will need to produce as much food as has been consumed over our entire human history "

Seafood products from aquaculture have a much lower impact on space and freshwater than land-based animals. And since the 1990s, aquaculture has taken the lead in seafood production, as captured fisheries have reached their production limits.

Aquaculture is the fastest growing food production system in the world.

Sourcing from Vietnam ?

Well-Boat' carry the fish alive from the farm up to the factory

Vietnam plays an important role in the global seafood industry. The country is known for its efficient farming of Pangasius, a fish species with a low environmental impact. In addition, tiger shrimp farming in Vietnam's natural mangroves contributes to the preservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems, protecting coastal communities from increased storm surges, flooding and hurricanes.

We believe that sourcing seafood from Vietnam not only provides economic benefits but also contributes to the social development of the region.
